Evaluation of the determinants of cognitive dysfunction in patients with multiple sclerosis

Abstract Background Cognitive dysfunction is common among patients with multiple sclerosis (MS); however, the determinants of cognitive are still unknown. This study aimed to investigate in a relatively large sample MS for rapid screening. Results Fifty-three (33.6%) had dysfunction. According Wechsler Memory Scale, relapsing-remitting (RRMS) and progressive (PMS) significantly lower scores than control group. Patients RRMS compared group were 76.73 ± 8.50 versus 105.58 8.71 ( P < 0.01), PMS 72.56 6.44 0.01). In RRMS, factors affecting emergence included disability, fatigue, depression, duration illness, whereas PMS, just disability variable was related presence or absence Conclusions Our findings showed that illness associated RRMS. Proper identification these can be helpful screening this population.
